Castro's Surf and Turf
If you ever find yourself cruising down Broadway Street in King City, CA, and your stomach starts grumbling for something bold, fresh, and filling — let me point you in the right direction: Castro's Surf and Turf. Sitting right at 721 Bdwy St, this laid-back spot is a go-to for locals and visitors who want a mix of land and sea on their plates without any fuss. It’s the kind of place where flavor comes first, service is fast, and the vibe is as welcoming as your favorite pair of jeans.
First things first — the hours are super convenient. Castro’s Surf and Turf is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Sundays are off the table (literally), so keep that in mind if you’re planning a weekend outing. But the rest of the week? You’re covered for lunch, dinner, or even a late afternoon bite.
One thing I noticed right away is how well this place caters to all kinds of diners. Whether you're dining solo, grabbing a quick take-out order, or meeting up with a small group, it just works. There's a casual, cozy vibe inside, and yes — they’ve got table service for those who like to kick back and take their time. It’s wheelchair-accessible throughout, with accessible entrances, restrooms, and seating — a thoughtful touch that not every small restaurant gets right.
Now, let’s talk about the menu — because this is where Castro’s Surf and Turf really shines. As the name suggests, you’re looking at a beautiful collision of ocean and land: seafood and steak, shrimp and carne asada, maybe even lobster tails sharing the same plate with grilled chicken. This isn’t fast food, but the service is impressively quick. Orders come out hot, fresh, and generously portioned — ideal if you’re starving or sharing plates with friends.
The food leans heavily into comfort territory — rich sauces, bold seasonings, and plates that look as good as they taste. There are small plate options for lighter eaters or anyone who wants to try a few things at once. If you're bringing kids, there’s a kids' menu and high chairs available, which makes it a great family-friendly spot. Plus, if you're bringing your furry friend along, dogs are welcome outside, making it a chill option for pet owners, too.
For those who like to keep things simple, there’s takeout and delivery available. I’ve tried both — the delivery’s prompt, and the food holds up surprisingly well in transit. Great for movie nights, work lunches, or those times when you just don’t feel like leaving the house. Ordering over the phone is easy, and they accept credit cards, debit, and even NFC mobile payments — Apple Pay, Google Pay, the works.
What’s also great is that they serve beer and cocktails, so you can elevate your meal with a drink or two. Whether it's an ice-cold beer with shrimp tacos or a classic cocktail alongside a grilled steak, there’s a decent selection that pairs well with the menu. If you want to linger a bit longer after your meal, they’ve even got Wi-Fi, so you could sneak in a little laptop time or scroll through photos of your food while you eat.
Parking is refreshingly hassle-free here. There's free street parking and a free parking lot, which might sound minor, but if you’ve ever circled around forever looking for a spot, you know it’s a dealbreaker for some places. Not here — you’ll be in and seated before you even finish checking your texts.
It’s worth noting that the space is tourist-friendly, too. It’s not uncommon to see travelers passing through King City who stumbled upon this spot thanks to word-of-mouth or solid online reviews. It’s a great pit stop if you’re driving along the 101 and need something memorable that isn’t just another chain.
Castro's Surf and Turf Reviews
Food was super awesome! Great selections and cool looking place. I typically don't like burritos but these were well packed, affordable, and worth the money. My wife had the white widow, I ordered the Cali burrito and a surf n turf taco which I ate too fast to take a photo
Amazing! Fresh food, generous portions. The Bang Bang Shrimp were more like prawns and perfectly breaded and cooked. Surf & Turf Burger was cooked just the way it should be medium to medium rare,, and the Buffalo chicken loaded fries were large enough to share. We stopped in on Christmas Eve during our visit with family. If you are passing through King City, California I'd say it's a must to stop & grab lunch or dinner.
Great little taco and burrito spot. Super friendly staff. Will definitely stop here on the next road trip.
Great food, staff is nice n chill. The restaurant has a few tables inside but fairly busy for a small town in my opinion. I got the shrimp n carne a safe fries, dirty n delicious. My partner got the mothers wedding fries (funny name), and our friend got the habanero fries, everything tasted great, can't wait to come back.
Effortlessly the best Surf and Turf food spot on the central coast. Great food headed on the 101 Food: Simply put one has to try the carne asada fries! The avocado sauce and Baja sauce are full of flavor with freshly made pico de gallo! Crispy and hot fries - no soggy fries here. Splurging on a cheat meal get that Hot Cheeto burrito. You have a choice of meat option thus pick the carne asada for the best pairing. Something on the healthier side, the shrimp burrito. Hearty pieces of shrimp and nice crunch from the purple cabbage dressed in serrano sauce (not too spicy imo). Service: Always swift and kind people. Execute well beginning to end such as the small things like packing napkins, utensils to go etc Ambiance: Hip and modern art for a real surf and turf vibe! Don't be deceived by the small town and give it a try. It's the brother spot of the bakery down Broadway!
